NKU faces Lewis in a key GLVC series this weekend at Romeoville, Ill.
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team hits the road for a four-game series at Lewis this weekend, beginning with a noon doubleheader Saturday.
NKU enters the series riding a seven-game winning streak and is 26-17 overall. The Norse are 16-12 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and looking to clinch a spot in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.
After the Lewis series, NKU returns home to close out the regular season next Monday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Bellarmine. The GLVC Tournament begins May 12.
SENORITY RULES: The NKU senior pitching combination of
Andy Heston and
Dave Middendorf is one of the best on the GLVC. Heston is 8-0 and leads the GLVC with a 1.23 earned run average. Heston is also No. 1 in opposing batting average, limiting foes to a .153 clip.
Middendorf is No. 2 in opposing batting average (.192) and leads the GLVC in strikeouts (85). The senior left-hander is 6-3 with a 1.97 ERA this season.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: NKU senior catcher
Brian Erie is No. 3 in the GLVC with 16 doubles. Erie leads the Norse in hitting with a .361 batting average.
RUN PRODUCER: NKU sophomore third baseman
Brad Clement is No. 2 in the GLVC with 45 runs batted in. Clement has five home runs and eight doubles this season.
