HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team completed a successful weekend of Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Sunday by posting a 2-0 win over Rockhurst at the NKU Soccer Stadium.

Amanda Mason each netted goals for NKU, which won its second straight contest and improved to 5-1 overall, 3-1 in the GLVC. It marked the fourth shutout of the season for the Norse defense.
On Friday night, the Norse had rolled to a 7-0 victory against William Jewell. NKU has outscored the opposition by a 35-4 margin this season.
Hofmeyer struck first on Sunday with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute. It remained that way until the 78:32 mark, when Mason scored her sixth goal of the season by sending a shot into the back of the net off assists from
Megan Frye and
Jordan Hodge.
Frye played the ball to Hodge, who chipped a pass into the box for Mason. The senior from Northwest High School in Cincinnati then finished with a left-footed shot that beat Rockhurst goalie Lucy Sullivan.
Mason now has 40 career goals and is tied with Tricia Ruark for third place in Norse history. Bessie Black is No. 2 in NKU history with 41 career goals.
NKU held a 17-5 advantage in shots on Sunday, and both teams attempted seven corner kicks. The Norse are 9-1 all-time against Rockhurst, which dropped to 2-2-1 overall, 1-2-1 in the GLVC.
NKU hits the road for Springfield, Mo., on Friday for a 6 p.m. (Eastern time) GLVC contest at Drury. The Norse wrap up the road trip next Sunday with a 1 p.m. game at Missouri S&T.
