NKU women net two goals late in second half, rally for 2-1 win at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, Mo. - The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team netted a pair of goals late in the second half to rally for a 2-1 victory over Missouri S&T on Sunday afternoon.

Trailing 1-0 in the 72nd minute, NKU evened the score when Amanda Mason redirected a free kick into the back of the net for her eighth goal of the season. Laura Painter collected the assist on the play.

Mason now has 42 career goals, which is No. 2 in Norse history. Betsy Moore is No. 1 in school history with 70 goals.

NKU took a 2-1 lead at the 78:48 mark on Hannah Adams' second goal of the season off an assist from CG Bryant. Missouri S&T did not get a shot attempt during the final 12 minutes, and NKU held on for its fourth consecutive victory.

The Norse improved to 7-1 overall, 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Missouri S&T is 2-4-1 overall, 2-4 in the GLVC.

NKU is now 8-1 all-time against Missouri S&T. The Lady Miners' only victory in the series came on Aug. 27, 2000, when they posted a 5-3 win over the Norse in Rolla, Mo.

NKU finished with an 18-5 advantage in shot attempts on Sunday and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. Norse goalie Rachael Wood made three saves to collect the victory.

NKU returns home to meet Wisconsin-Parkside at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
