INDIANAPOLIS – Jenna Schreiver set the stage for Northern Kentucky University's 25-15, 25-23, 25-22 victory over No. 19 West Florida on Saturday night.

Schreiver finished with 29 assists, six kills and attacked at a .417 clip as the Norse improved to 2-0. The junior setter also added five digs and four blocks for NKU, which hit .727 in the opening set en route to a 25-15 victory.

West Florida (1-3) built a 17-11 lead in the second set, but NKU used a 9-1 run to take a 20-18 advantage. West Florida rallied and regained a 23-22 lead, but Schreiver converted an attack to tie the set at 23-all.

After NKU took a 24-23 lead off a West Florida attacking error, Shelby Buschur and Gennie Galfano combined for a block to give the Norse a 25-23 victory and a two-set advantage.

NKU used a 5-1 run late in the third set to turn a 20-18 deficit into a 23-21 lead. Noelle Peterson collected a pair of kills to key the run by the Norse.

Sarah Drennen hammered down eight kills to lead NKU, which hit .223 for the match. Buschur, Peterson and Kim Nemcek all finished with seven kills.

Peterson, who also attacked at a .385 clip, now has 987 career kills. Prior to Saturday night's triumph, NKU's last win against a nationally ranked opponent came last season against then-No. 21 Missouri-St. Louis.

The Norse conclude the event Sunday with matches against Florida Tech (noon) and regional rival Saginaw Valley State (2 p.m.).
