IN MARYLAND: NKU is 1-1 all-time in games played in the state of Maryland, and both were during a 1986 regular-season tournament at Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.
NKU defeated West Chester, 73-72, on Dec. 29, 1986, then dropped a 69-66 decision to host Mount St. Mary's the next evening. At that time, Mount St. Mary's was still competing at the Division II level but is now a Division I program.
INSIDE FORCE: NKU sophomore post player
Jalen Billups collected the first double-double of his career with 14 points and 10 rebounds at Hampton. Billups netted all 14 of his points in the second half, including a pair of jumpers from outside the free-throw line, to key the NKU victory.
Billups is shooting 55.3 percent from the field (No. 5 in the Atlantic Sun Conference) and averages 9.7 points per game.
JACKSON TO THE HOOP: Chad Jackson scored 14 of his season-high 18 points in the first half Thursday night at Hampton. The junior guard scored the Norse's first eight points of the game and he finished with five rebounds.
Jackson averages 9.1 points per game and is shooting 53.5 percent from the field (No. 8 in the Atlantic Sun Conference). He also leads the team with nine steals.
NATE THE GREAT: NKU freshman guard
Nate Snodgrass finished with 10 points at Hampton. Snodgrass hit a pair of 3-pointers, and he also made a pair of free throws in the final seconds to help the Norse hold off a late rally by the Pirates.
STRETCH ON THE BOARDS: NKU senior forward Ernest “Stretch” Watson grabbed a season-high nine rebounds against Hampton. Watson also dished out a pair of assists in that victory.
DISH IT OUT: NKU freshman guard
Todd Johnson dished out a team-leading four assists at Hampton.
AT THE HALF: NKU owned a 27-23 advantage at intermission on Thursday is now 1-2 when leading at halftime this season. The Norse are 0-4 when trailing at the break.
ABOUT NAVY: Navy enters Saturday with a 6-6 overall record and has won four of its last six games. The Midshipmen carry a three-game home winning streak, taking those games by an average of 12.7 points per game.
The Midshipmen boast four scorers that average at least 7.6 points per game. Navy is paced by freshman Tilman Dunbar, who leads the team in points (10.7 points per game) and assists (5.8 apg).
