HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Thursday night's game between Northern Kentucky University and Indianapolis featured two of the Great Lakes Valley Conference's top guards, and both players delivered big-time results.

In the end, Casse Mogan won the battle against Kristin Turner, as NKU picked up a 71-68 victory over Indianapolis.  Mogan blocked a shot by Turner and forced her to turn the ball over in the final six seconds of the game to seal the victory for the Norse.

Mogan scored 24 of her 33 points in the first half as NKU took a 30-29 lead into the break. She finished 12-for-17 from the floor, including 4-for-4 from behind the arc.

In addition, the Circleville, Ohio, native moved into seventh place on the NKU all-time scoring list with 1,447 career points. She passed Pam King (1,422 points) and is now closing in on Linda Honigford (1,482 points) for sixth place in school history.

Mogan was also perfect from the free throw line (5-for-5).  She added four rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.

Turner scored a game-high 36 points for Indianapolis, which tied the women's record for most points scored in The Bank of Kentucky Center. On March 13, 2009, Katie Cezat of Hillsdale (Mich.) scored 36 points in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament in a 73-72 loss against Indianapolis in The Bank of Kentucky Center.

The Norse improved to 17-5 overall, 10-4 in the GLVC with the win.

Indianapolis held an eight-point lead with 12:52 remaining behind the play of Turner, but the Norse used a 16-6 run to regain the lead with just over seven minutes remaining.  The run was capped by a conventional three-point play by Mogan.

A 3-point shot from Turner put the Greyhounds back on top, 68-67, with 27 seconds left in the game.  However, Ellen Holton responded with a layup to reclaim the lead for the Norse.

Mogan blocked the Turner shot on the other end of the court and proceeded to hit two free throws to extend the lead to three. On the Greyhounds' final possession, Mogan stole the ball from Turner to seal the Norse victory.

Holton added 20 points and five rebounds for NKU, while Tiara Hopper finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

NKU won the rebounding battle 37-32.  Sadie Bowling collected 14 rebounds for the Norse.  NKU also forced 15 Indianapolis turnovers.

The Greyhounds fell to 16-6 overall, 10-4 in the GLVC. Turner, who was the only Indianapolis player to net double figures Thursday night, currently leads both Indianapolis and the GLVC in scoring (18.6 ppg).

NKU returns to action on Saturday at home against Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m.
