No. 10 NKU faces No. 13 Southern Indiana in GLVC Tournament championship game

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Northern Kentucky University meets Southern Indiana for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.

NKU is 23-5 overall, while Southern Indiana is 23-6. The Norse are ranked 10th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, while the Screaming Eagles are No. 13.

NKU defeated Missouri-St. Louis in the semifinals, 72-70, while Southern Indiana knocked off top-ranked Bellarmine, 71-68, in the other semifinal contest.

THE SERIES: Southern Indiana owns a 48-19 lead in the all-time series with NKU. The two teams split this season, with the home squad winning both times.

The Screaming Eagles posted a 69-68 win over the Norse in Evansville, Ind. NKU took the rematch in Highland Heights, Ky., 69-55.

NKU and Southern Indiana have met six times in the GLVC Tournament, with the Screaming Eagles holding a 5-1 advantage. Southern Indiana defeated NKU in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2007. The Norse knocked off the Screaming Eagles en route to the 2003 title.

The two teams have met in two GLVC Tournament championship games (2005 and 2007), and Southern Indiana won both games in Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Ind.

GLVC TOURNMENT HISTORY: NKU is now 19-12 all-time in the GLVC Tournament. The Norse have won GLVC Tournament championships in 2003 and 2009.
