No. 36 NKU men's tennis posts 8-1 victory over Saint Joseph's

RENSSELAER, Ind. – The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team got back to its winning ways on Friday with an 8-1 victory over Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Saint Joesph's.

With the win, NKU is 10-4 overall and 3-1 in GLVC play.  The Norse are ranked No. 36 in the latest NCAA Division II national poll.

The Norse swept convincingly through doubles play, highlighted by Tyler Fraser and Pierce Kohls running their doubles record to 7-2 with an 8-3 win over Joseph Bomben and Adam Meeker in the No. 1 flight.

The Norse were equally strong in singles play, with Guillaume Berman taking a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bomben in the top flight match.

Pierce Kohls got his first win at the No. 2 position with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Seth Arthur.  Andre Correa played up to No. 3 and picked up his ninth consecutive victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Danny James.

Christopher Angulo took a hard-fought win over Joseph Scott at No. 4, needing a 7-5 third set to claim victory, while Jimmy Caccamo rounded out the Norse scoring with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Carl Fisher at No. 6.

NKU closes out the conference weekend on Saturday with a match at Indianapolis.
