MUNCIE, Ind. – Skylar Chew's goal in the 66th minute helped Ball State capture a 2-1 victory over the Northern Kentucky University's women soccer team on Friday at the Briner Sports Complex.
With the game scoreless, Amanda Dreyfus sent a corner kick into the box, and Chew was able to head the ball into the goal to put the Cardinals on the board first.
An own goal by NKU, which fell to 1-1 on the season, stretched the Ball State lead to 2-0 two minutes later at 67:46.

The Norse had four corner kicks in the final five minutes, but NKU was only able to produce one shot off the opportunities.
Allison Ponzer's shot attempt was saved by goalie Aubrey Buehler.
“We knew going into the game that it would be a challenge, but the effort was there,” NKU head coach
Bob Sheehan said. “I think we started off slow, but we gained some momentum in the second half. We created great opportunities in the second half but we just couldn't capitalize on those opportunities.”
After only getting off three shots in the first half, NKU outshot Ball State 10-7 in the second half.
Western Kentucky (2-1) defeated Xavier, 3-0, in the opening game of the Ball State Tournament on Friday.
NKU returns to the Briner Sports Complex on Sunday to take on Western Kentucky at noon.
