LONG-RANGE BARRAGE: Florida Gulf Coast knocked down 15 shots from 3-point range against Northern Kentucky en route to a 79-50 win Saturday night. The 15 treys were the most ever allowed by the Norse. The Eagles attempted a total of 38 shots from behind the arc, also a record for an NKU opponent.
A week earlier at East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast set an NCAA record by making 22 3-pointers.
REE ON A ROLL: NKU freshman guard
Rianna Gayheart has averaged 12.6 points during the past five games. She poured in a team-high 18 points against Florida Gulf Coast, including 8-for-9 shooting from the free-throw line, both single-game career highs at the charity stripe.
Gayheart averages 7.6 points per game and is 22-for-53 from 3-point range. She also leads NKU in assists at 2.5 apg.
UNCOMMON SIGHT: Florida Gulf Coast held NKU's
Kayla Thacker scoreless Saturday night, marking the first time this season the Norse junior guard did not produce any points. Thacker leads NKU in scoring (10.9 ppg) and has reached double figures nine times this season. Thacker also tops the A-Sun in minutes played per game at 36.1.
HALF THE FUN: NKU is unbeaten (6-0) when leading at halftime this season. The Norse are 0-9 when trailing at the break.
TWIN-STANT OFFENSE: Freshman forward
Courtney Roush scored a career-high five points and grabbed four rebounds off the bench against Florida Gulf Coast. Roush's twin sister, Christine, is a starting guard for the Norse and averages 8.0 points per game.
ABOUT STETSON: The Hatters (14-4 overall, 7-0 A-Sun) tied a school record with their 10th consecutive victory Saturday, a 92-51 trouncing of visiting Lipscomb. Stetson also extended its home winning streak to 13, the longest in program history.
Stetson's Sasha Sims scored 22 points against Lipscomb on 9-of-11 shooting. She also added seven rebounds and three assists. Cherrise Burris (16 points), Victoria McGowan (15), and Ashley Dennis (10) also scored in double figures in that win for the Hatters.
This will mark the first-ever meeting between NKU and Stetson.
