GENEVA, Ohio –
J.J. Webber won his first competition of his indoor track career to lead the Northern Kentucky University men's track & field team at the SPIRE Midwest Open.
Webber got his win in the 5000-meter race with a 14:50.70. This was the first time Weber ran the distance indoors.
Brendan Chwalek had a personal best in the 5000-meter with a 15:02.17. His effort was good enough for third place.
Weber and Chwalek also saw solid times in the mile, as Weber placed ninth with a 4:22.30 and Chwalek set a personal record and finished 12
th with a 4:24.22.
Josh Makin narrowly defeated his personal best in the 800-meter race, running a 2:02.41, which was a 0.13 second improvement from personal best set at Kent State back in December.
Ricky Harm set a new personal best in the 3000-meter with a 8:57.54. It was an 8.37 second improvement over his 3000-meter race at Kent State.
Josh Miller also broke his personal record in the shot put with a mark of 11.32m (37-1.75).
The Norse will return to action next weekend for the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational.
