HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University entertains East Tennessee State in an Atlantic Sun Conference clash Monday night in The Bank of Kentucky Center. The tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
NKU enters the game 3-8 overall, 1-2 in the A-Sun. East Tennessee State is 2-12 overall, 0-1 in the A-Sun. This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
STREAK HALTED: South Carolina Upstate ended NKU's 30-year streak of winning home openers with a 60-54 victory over the Norse on Saturday night. NKU had not dropped a home opener since Nov. 27, 1981.
BEAR OFF THE BENCH: NKU senior guard
Eshaunte Jones scored 18 points off the bench against USC Upstate. Jones netted 19 points in a reserve role at Jacksonville on Wednesday night, He averages 13.5 points per game, but he has scored at an 18.5 clip coming off the bench the past two contests.
ON TARGET: NKU freshman guard
Tyler White made his second straight start Saturday night and scored 11 points. White knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in that game. He averages 5.8 points per game.
TOUGH DEFENSE: NKU's defensive effort forced A-Sun Player of the Year Torrey Craig into a 1-for-6 shooting effort from the field and a total of six points, 12 below his average. Craig also had five turnovers on Saturday night.
IN THE BANK: NKU is now 53-8 all-time in The Bank of Kentucky Center after the loss to USC Upstate. Three of those eight losses were to Bellarmine. The others setbacks were to Quincy, UW-Parkside, Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana.
NEARING A MILLION: NKU drew a crowd of 2,788 for Saturday's home opener, bringing the Norse men's all-time home attendance to 998,514. NKU can pass the one million mark for all-time home attendance Monday night with a crowd of 1,486 or better.
