HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Florida Gulf Coast remained perfect in Atlantic Sun Conference play Friday night by posting a 2-0 road win at Northern Kentucky University.
Tessa Berger and Shannen Wacker both tallied first-half goals for Florida Gulf Coast, which improved to 8-3-1 overall, 3-0 in the A-Sun. Berger's goal in the 11th minute began the scoring, and Wacker added an insurance score at the 39:16 mark.
Florida Gulf Coast goalie Brittany Brown recorded the shutout and saved two shots. The Eagles finished with a 25-8 advantage in total shots, including 11-2 on goal, and owned an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
Northern Kentucky goalie Tanner Ruberg collected nine saves. The Norse are 4-7-1 overall, 0-3 in the A-Sun.
Florida Gulf Coast is now 2-0 all-time against Northern Kentucky. A year ago, the Eagles cruised to a 6-0 victory against the Norse in Fort Myers, Fla., as Wacker scored three goals.
Northern Kentucky plays host to Stetson at noon Sunday. Faculty and staff members will receive free admission with their All Card on Sunday afternoon. The Sunday Funday Soccer Bingo game will once again be played during the game with the winner receiving an NKU t-shirt and a Toppers Pizza coupon.
