HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University plays host to instate rival Morehead State at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in The Bank of Kentucky Center.

The Norse are 0-3 entering Tuesday, while Morehead State is 3-1.

The Eagles own a 5-0 lead in the all-time series with the Norse. The last meeting between NKU and Morehead State came on Nov. 29, 1993, when the Eagles posted an 85-79 win over the visiting Norse.

SAN DIEGO RECAP: Unbeaten San Diego posted a 75-44 victory over NKU on Saturday night in The Bank of Kentucky Center. San Diego (4-0) used a 24-3 run in the second half to coast to the win.

p
San Diego became the first team from the state of California to visit NKU for a men's basketball game.

The Norse made just 24.2 percent of their shots from the field – the lowest mark from the floor in the history of the program.

The previous lowest Northern Kentucky single-game record for field-goal percentage came on Jan. 18, 1990, when Kentucky Wesleyan held the Norse to 25.4 percent shooting from the floor.

The Norse also shot just 3-for-28 from 3-point range Saturday night and converted just 40.9 percent (9-for-22) from the free-throw line.

San Diego made 52 percent of its shots from the field, including a sizzling 58.3 percent in the second half. Leading 42-31 with 14:42 remaining, the Toreros used a 24-3 spurt to build a 66-34 advantage.

HOME OPENERS: The Norse are now 38-5 all-time in home openers. NKU had won 30 consecutive home openers until last season, but the Norse have now dropped two straight.

ON THE REBOUND: NKU sophomore post player Jake Giesler grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds against San Diego, including 11 offensive boards. The 11 offensive rebounds were the most for an NKU player since Marvin Johnson pulled down 15 offensive boards against Campbellsville (Ky.) on Nov. 20, 1971. Johnson finished with a school-record 24 rebounds in that game.

Giesler, who also added nine points against San Diego, leads NKU in rebounding at 7.7 per game.

INSTANT OFFENSE: Norse freshman forward Daniel Camps averages 12 points per game, which is second on the team. Camps has scored in double figures the last two games as a reserve, including 11 against San Diego. He also grabbed seven rebounds in that game.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST MOREHEAD STATE: On Nov. 19, 1993, four players scored in double figures for Morehead State as the Eagles pulled out an 85-79 win over NKU in Morehead, Ky.

Antoine Smith scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Norse. Ryan Schrand added 11 points for NKU, while LaRon Moore scored 10.

TRAFFIC UPDATE FOR TUESDAY: In anticipation of a large crowd for NKU's game against Morehead State on Tuesday and with evening classes also taking place, please be aware that a different traffic pattern entering campus from the Three Mile Road/Exit 76 may be implemented for the game should heavy traffic flow warrant.

Inbound traffic coming from the Three Mile Road/Exit 76 may be diverted to Kenton Drive to keep heavy traffic away from the Nunn Drive round-about, with event parking directed to Lots E, F, & M. For guests traveling eastbound on 275 East, it is recommended to arrive early and/or instead take Exit 74A for US 27 toward Alexandria and enter campus via Nunn Drive to access parking lots in closer proximity to The Bank of Kentucky Center.

TUESDAY'S PROMOTIONS: Tuesday's game will be presented by Dominos, and 500 free pizzas will be given away via the Dominos Drop. In addition, the Flying Houndz Trick Frizbee Dog Show will perform at halftime. It will also be Greek Night and $1 Select Beverages Night in The Bank of Kentucky Center.
