HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky travels to Martin, Tenn., to meet Tennessee Martin in a non-conference game Saturday at 5 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two programs. Tennessee Martin is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Norse enter Saturday with a 1-6 record, while Tennessee Martin is 3-8. The Skyhawks defeated Samford, 89-73, Wednesday night in Birmingham, Ala. Six players scored in double figures to highlight the Tennessee Martin win at Samford.

AGAINST THE OVC: Northern Kentucky is 26-31 all-time against teams currently in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Norse own 19 wins against Southern Illinois Edwardsville and three victories against Tennessee State. NKU has two wins over both Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois.

SCORING MACHINE: Norse sophomore guard Tyler White poured in 36 points during the two games in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, last week and has upped his scoring average to 12.3 points per contest. White scored a career-high 22 points in a loss to Southeast Missouri State on Friday, and he capped the weekend by netting a team-best 14 points against Texas State.

White is tied for the team lead with 15 assists and is shooting 78.6 percent from the free-throw line. He is also eighth in the Atlantic Sun Conference with 1.2 steals per game.

GAMES IN TENNESSEE: NKU is 3-14 all-time in games played in the state of Tennessee. The Norse split a pair of games in Tennessee last season, winning at East Tennessee State and losing at Lipscomb. CHATTANOOGA UP NEXT: On Dec. 15, NKU renews an old rivalry with Chattanooga in The Bank of Kentucky Center. The game is set for a noon start.

NKU and Chattanooga have not played since 1977. Chattanooga reclassified to NCAA Division I status after that season and the series with NKU was discontinued.

Prior to that, NKU and Chattanooga played 10 times, with the Mocs winning seven of those games. The two programs met for the first time in 1972, with Chattanooga being the first opponent in then-brand new Regents Hall. The Mocs pulled out that first game in Regents Hall, 84-80, on Nov. 27, 1972, over then-Northern Kentucky State College.

The Norse's last win against Chattanooga came on Feb. 7, 1977, 88-76, in Regents Hall. That is also the most recent meeting between the two programs. NKU is 3-2 at home against Chattanooga, and 0-5 on the road.
