Championship highlights
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Freshman
J.J. Webber and senior
Brendan Chwalek shined for the Northern Kentucky University men's track & field team at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by East Tennessee State University.
Webber gained the most points for the Norse with his performances in the 3000-meter and 5000-meter runs. He placed third in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:35.10, which was slightly off from his personal best set at the Hoosier Hills Invitational earlier this month. Webber continued his solid performance with a 14:55.38 finish in the 5000-meter, which was good enough for a third-place finish.
Chwalek has been running neck-and-neck with Webber all season, and he continued to do so on the year's biggest stage. He finished just behind Webber in fourth place in the 5000-meter with a personal best performance of 14:56.42. He also finished with a time of 8:40.94 in the 3000-meter which earned him a sixth-place finish.
Senior Rick Harm ran in several events with his best being the 8:50.01, eleventh-place finish in the 3000-meter. He also set a personal best in indoor in the 5000-meter with a 15:24.41.
The sixth-place team finish for the Norse wrapped up this season of indoor track & field. The Norse will begin the outdoor season at the University of Cincinnati on March 16
th.
