COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech University baseball team scored two runs in the first inning to take the early lead over Northern Kentucky University, and that turned out to be all it would need, as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 7-1 victory at Bush Stadium on Wednesday.

After four scoreless innings, Tennessee Tech added five more runs to the scoreboard to seal the win and improve to 10-6 on the season.

NKU (2-14) struggled to get the offense going, only placing two runners on base during the first six innings.  Hunter Morey reached base after he was hit by a Nick Price pitch in the top of the fourth and advanced to second on a wild pitch before being left on base.

Josh Myers hit a two-out single through the right side in the sixth, but a strikeout ended the inning before he could score.

The Norse did plate a run in the top of the eighth to cut into the Golden Eagle lead.

With one out, Logan Spurlin singled through the right side and scored on a Caleb Lonkard double.  Lonkard advanced to third on a groundout, but NKU was unable to generate another run.

Dylan Bosheers finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs, while Zach Stephens went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for Tennessee Tech.

Price (2-1) did not allow a hit and recorded two strikeouts in four innings of work to earn the win for the Golden Eagles.

NKU travels to Ypsilanti, Mich., on Friday to participate in the Oestrike Classic.  The Norse will face Butler at 1 p.m., followed by a game against host Eastern Michigan.  First pitch for the second game is slated for 5 p.m.
