TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Northern Kentucky men's and women's track & field teams had their weekend cut short due to weather conditions. The second day of the Alabama Relays, hosted by the University of Alabama, was cancelled due to severe thunderstorms.
Senior
Ricky Harm led the Norse by posting a personal best and 13th-place finish the 5000-meter with a time of 15:09.18. Personal bests began to fall all over the place for the Norse in the 5000-meter race as
Zac Holtkamp and
Matt Kuhn set personal bests with times of 15:32.31 and 15:38.38, respectively. Andy Wolfer, who also ran in the 5000-meter, shattered his personal best in the event set during this past indoor season by 19.6 seconds with a 15:34.59 finish.
The 5000-meter event was just as kind to the Norse on the women's side as
Kaitlyn Hooper set her personal best in the event with a 18:25.05 finish. She was top finisher in the event for the Norse with a 16th-place finish.
Kelly Johnson finished just behind Hooper in twentieth place with a personal best of 18:45.02.
Alicia Follrod also set a personal best in the 400-meter with a 1:01.52.
Frannie Schultz continued her recent string of record breaking performances by setting the school record in the javelin with a mark of 31.65 meters.
Kayla Justice placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 11:51.25 finish. Just behind her in fourth was
Kelsey Gaffney who set a personal best in the event with a time of 12:08.12.
The Norse will return closer to home next weekend for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
