HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Bradley Vanderglas finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Northern Kentucky University baseball team to a 5-4 victory over former Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Indianapolis in extra innings on Wednesday afternoon at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex.

NKU head coach Todd Asalon's son, Anthony, put Indianapolis (15-14) on the scoreboard first with a double down the left-field line, bringing Brady Thomas home for a 2-0 lead after three innings.

Pat Hyde's bases-loaded sacrifice fly allowed Cody Kuzniczci to score the following frame to bring the Norse even.

The Greyhounds took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth, but NKU (6-27) answered once again in the bottom of the inning on a single by Vanderglas, which brought Josh Myers home.

Indianapolis regained the lead in the top of the ninth.  Dan Eliopulos drew a walk to start the inning and was replaced by pinch runner Matt Ernest.  A sacrifice bunt by Jake Weinzapfel advanced Ernest to second, and he went to third on a groundout.

Anthony reached base on an error by Brad Clement, and Ernest scored on the play.  Anthony scored on a double by Ryan Wides to give the Greyhounds a 4-2 advantage going into the bottom of the inning.

Ryan Hinz singled, and Vanderglas drew his second walk of the game to start the Norse frame.  Brett Cisper drew a walk after Hunter Morey fouled out to load the bases.  After the second out, Hinz and Vanderglas scored on back-to-back wild pitches by Sean Elliot to tie the game at 4-all.

Brett Loeding retired the final nine Greyhounds in order, setting the stage for the final run in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Myers singled to left field and proceeded to steal second.  He advanced to third on a fly out, and Ryan Hinz was intentionally walked.  Vanderglas reached on a fielder's choice and Myers scored on the play to give NKU its second consecutive win for the first time this season.

Hinz also finished 2-for-4 for NKU, while Myers went 2-for-5.

Tim Clark earned his first start of the season for the Norse and only allowed one run on four hits over five innings of work.  He collected three strikeouts and did not walk a batter in the no decision.

Loeding (2-4) pitched five innings of relief for the win.  He did not allow an earned run and struck out two batters.

Anthony and Jake Hartley led the Indianapolis offense after going 2-for-5.

NKU travels to Jacksonville, Fla., for a three-game series against North Florida to resume Atlantic Sun Conference play.  First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.  Live stats and broadcast information will be available at NKUNorse.com.
