JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kelly Koop had 12 kills and 10 digs to lead the University of North Florida volleyball team to a straight-set victory, 25-22, 25-23, 25-17, over Northern Kentucky University in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Friday night.
Anna Budinska and Cameron McGuire were also in double-figures for North Florida (4-9, 1-2 A-Sun) with 11 kills apiece.
Megan Wanstrath led NKU (5-9, 0-2 A-Sun) with 11 kills, while
Jenna Ruble added nine kills.
Anna Prickel had a team-best 14 digs for the Norse and needs just 11 more to reach the 1,000-dig milestone for her career.
A late four-point run by the Ospreys put Set 1 out of reach for the Norse. After an NKU attack error, McGuire served up one of her two aces for the match. Budinska and Abby Fesl added kills to extend the North Florida lead to 22-17. The Norse were able to climb back into it, delaying set point with a 3-0 run that included kills from Ruble and
Keely Creamer, but Budinska put home the set's final kill at 25-22.
NKU looked to be in the driver's seat in Set 2, jumping out to a 12-8 lead before UNF responded with a 9-0 run that included four Norse attack errors to take the lead for good.
McGuire got six of her 11 kills in the final set as the Ospreys hit at an astonishing .679 clip, committing just one attack error on 20 kills in 28 attempts.
