Norse Take Care Of Ohio Mid-Western, 98-48

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team (2-2) defeated Ohio Mid-Western (0-4), 98-48, on Saturday night at the Bank of Kentucky Center.
 
The Norse opened up the game with a 17-0 scoring run kicked-off by a layup from Chad Jackson. During the run Tyler White drained back-to-back treys before Jalen Billups capped off the spurt with a layup making it 17-0 for NKU. The run ended when Ahmad Dauda sank a layup giving the Rams their first points of the night.
 
The Norse continued to pour on the offense in the first half and lead, 57-17, at the break. White led the Norse with 11 points in the half and finished the game with 14, a new season high.
 
7847"Today I felt like I shot the ball pretty well," White said. "My teammates found me when I was in the open spaces, and I just stepped up and knocked down my open shots."
 
In the second half, the Norse came out of the gate running, reeling off six-unanswered points. Jake Geisler nailed back-to back jumpers, followed by a dunk from Jackson to extend the Norse lead to 63-17.
 
NKU continued to pour on the points throughout the second frame. With 8:49 left to play, Jordan Jackson brought the Norse faithful to their feet with ally-oop jam on an assist from Cole Murray. The Norse never looked back in picking up their second win of the season, 98-48.
 
White led the Norse with 14 points, while freshman guard Tayler Persons had an all-around terrific evening. Persons finished with six points, seven boards and game-high nine assists. Daniel Camps corralled 11 rebounds, a new career-high for the sophomore forward.
 
For Ohio Mid-Western, Patrick White led the way with 14 points, Dauda pulled down seven caroms and Derray Johnson handed out three assists.
 
NKU's 57 first half points where the most points scored by the Norse in any half of basketball so far this season.
