NORSE NOTES (FIVE STARTERS & ONE)

1• NKU is 8-18 overall after dropping a 69-67 decision at Kennesaw State on Friday night. The Norse are 4-10 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

2• Kennesaw State rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final 10 minutes to pull out that win. The Owls trailed 57-46 with 9:29 remaining but responded with a 19-4 run to take a 65-61 lead with 3:16 left on the clock.

3• NKU freshman Daniel Camps finished with a career-high 16 points against Kennesaw State.

4• NKU's Tyler White added 12 points off the bench.

5• The Norse have now lost six consecutive games. .

NKU VISITS MERCER: Northern Kentucky visits Mercer at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Norse are 8-18 overall, 4-10 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Mercer is 20-6 overall, and the Bears lead the Atlantic Sun Conference with an 11-2 record. Mercer owns a 2-1 lead in the all-time series with NKU.

KSU RALLIES TO DEFEAT NKU: Kennesaw State rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final 10 minutes to pull out a 69-67 victory over NKU on Friday night.

Delbert Love scored 18 points to lead Kennesaw State, which snapped an eight-game losing streak. The Owls trailed 57-46 with 9:29 remaining after NKU's Jalen Billups slammed down a dunk, but Kennesaw State responded with a 19-4 run to take a 65-61 lead after a conventional three-point play by Orlando Coleman with 3:16 left on the clock.

NKU battled back and took a 67-66 lead when Daniel Camps scored inside with 49 seconds remaining. Bernard Moreno, however, drew a foul with 24 seconds left and converted both free throws to give Kennesaw State a 68-67 advantage.

After a Norse turnover in the final 10 seconds, Myles Hamilton hit one of two free throws to extend the Kennesaw State lead to 69-67 with one second remaining and the Owls held on to defeat NKU for the first time in five all-time meetings.

Camps finished with a career-high 16 points for NKU, which led by as many as 13 points in the second half. Tyler White added 12 points off the bench for the Norse, who shot 52.1 percent from the field. Billups finished with 11 points, and Jordan Jackson scored 10.

Kennesaw State shot 52.3 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle by a 30-23 count. The Owls, who trailed 40-30 at halftime, limited the Norse to 27 points in the second half.

THURSDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS: NKU is now 0-5 when playing on Thursday this season.

ON TARGET: NKU freshman point guard Dean Danos is perfect (6-for-6) from the field during the past two games. He has netted eight points in each of those contests.

BY THE NUMBERS: NKU is 2-10 on the road this season, including 1-6 against Atlantic Sun Conference teams. The Norse are 3-0 when scoring at least 80 points. NKU is 6-5 when allowing less than 70 points.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST MERCER: Earlier this season on Jan. 16, Langston Hall scored 20 points and dished out five assists as Mercer posted a 74-58 win over NKU in The Bank of Kentucky Center. Bud Thomas added 16 points and three assists for Mercer, which closed the first half with a 21-4 run to take a 38-23 lead

Hall scored 11 points before halftime to lead Mercer, which shot 58.3 percent from the field during the opening 20 minutes. The Bears led by as many as 20 points in the second half and finished at 54 percent from the field. Tyler White netted 13 points to lead NKU. White was 6-for-13 from the field and added two steals.

Todd Johnson finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Cole Murray and Jake Giesler each scored six. The Norse shot 42 percent from the field and were 9-for-25 from 3-point range.
