MACON, Ga. – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team dropped an Atlantic Sun Conference matchup to Mercer University on Saturday, 5-2.

The Norse dropped the doubles competition point by losing two out of the three matchups. Their lone win in doubles play came in the No. 2 flight, as the duo of Nicole Soutar and Marta Romeo defeated Roxy Bartz and Liza Klyachkin, 8-5.  The win was their second in a row and pushed the pair to 7-7 on the season.

NKU picked up two wins in singles competition in the No. 1 and No. 6 flights as Maria Voscekova and Yasmine Xantos picked up victories in straight sets.

In his post-match comments, head coach Brian Nester commented, "We competed very well. We proved we can go toe-to-toe with the best."

NKU now sits at 5-5 overall and 0-2 in A-Sun play with the weekend road trip cut short as Sunday's matchup at Alabama State has been cancelled due to inclement weather.  The Norse will next take the court when they face Xavier in a road matchup on Wednesday, March 19.
