Msoc falls to Evansville in nonconference tilt

Norse fall to 8-5-4 on the season

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team (8-5-4) fell to Evansville (3-13-0) 4-0 in its final nonconference match of the 2015 season.
 
The Purple Aces first got on the board when Nate Opperman found net in the seventh minute. Opperman intercepted a pass back to Norse goalkeeper Toby Frohlich and finished to give Evansville a 1-0 advantage.
 
Northern Kentucky finished the opening frame taking six shots with two placed on goal by Jacob Cunningham and Ronald Moss. Evansville finished the first 45 minutes taking four shots with two on goal.
 
In the second half, Evansville extended its lead when Desmond Dolphy scored in the 49 minute with an assist by Zac Blaydes. Blaydes crossed the ball into the six-yard box with Dolphy finishing to the lower right pushing the Purple Aces lead to 2-0.
 
Evansville scored two more goals on the night with Dolphy netting his second goal of the match in the 69th minute and Mark Gonzalez finding the net in the 72nd minute. Ronald Moss had the best opportunity for the Norse in the second half firing a shot in the 82 minute but missing high.
 
NKU finished the match taking seven shots with two on goal and one corner kick. Norse goalkeepers Frohlich and Christian Carey each recorded a save in the match. Evansville finished the night with 14 shots with six on goal and two corner kicks. Purple Aces goalkeeper Matthew Keller finished the match with two saves.
 
The Norse return to action in their season finale hitting the road for a Horizon League match-up with Milwaukee on Friday 8 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (CT). The match has post-season implications as it could determine NKU's seeding for the upcoming Horizon League Men's Championship.
