Fast Break Points
• NKU slid to 1-1 on the year following a 79-64 setback at Illinois.
• Northern Kentucky led Illinois, 33-31, at the break and had the game tied at 50 with 11-minutes to play.
• Despite giving up 1.5-inches in average height, NKU dominated the boards (43-32) against Illinois. It was the best rebounding margin for the Norse since NKU won the battle of the boards, 42-27, in last season's road blowout of Oakland on Jan. 19.
• Through the first two games, NKU is outrebounding its opponents by 15 boards a game.
• Of the five Norse with at least 10 field-goal attempts this season, four of them are shooting 50 percent or better: Carson Williams, Drew McDonald, Jeff Garrett and Lavone Holland.
• All three opponents in the Tarkett Sports Classic – Austin Peay, Miami (Ohio) and Delaware - are first-time foes.
• Williams was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week after averaging 12.5 points, 8.5 boards and 2.5 assists in games against Illinois and Earlham.
• Williams and Garrett have both recorded a double-double just two games into the season. Williams went for 10 points and 14 boards at Illinois, while Garrett had 12 points and 14 boards versus Illinois.
• Williams (12.5 ppg), McDonald (11) and Garrett (10) are all averaging double-figures for NKU.
• Against the Illini, Holland tallied a team-best 13 points behind 5-of-10 shooting from the floor.
• G Blake Spellman, the DiRenna Award winner for top player in the Kansas City Area, played 27 minutes scoring eight points and grabbing five boards at Illinois.
