COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball fell on the road to Tennessee Tech on Sunday afternoon, 55-40. With the loss, the Norse drop to 2-5 on the season, while the Golden Eagles advanced to 3-6.
Stat Leaders
- Senior guard Kelley Wiegman led the Norse in scoring for the second time this season. Wiegman posted 10 points, going 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
- Redshirt-senior forward Rebecca Lyttle added eight points, a block and a steal. Se tied for the team lead in rebounds, with three.
- Junior forward Kasey Uetrecht, junior guard Mikayla Terry and freshman forward Hayley Combs also grabbed three boards.
- Senior guard Shar'Rae Davis and freshman guard Laura Thomas dished out two assists apiece.
First Half Summary
- The game started slowly as the Norse were held scoreless for the first 7:39 of the opening quarter until freshman guard Taryn Taugher drilled a triple to put NKU on the board, trailing 7-3.
- Taugher and Wiegman led the team in scoring for the first half, both posting five points in the first 20 minutes.
- NKU trailed 22-18 at the half, but saw a vast difference in offensive efficiency from the Golden Eagles. The Norse connected at just a 24.0 clip from the field, while Tennessee Tech shot 41.7 percent in the opening half.

- NKU shot 34.1 percent (15-of-44) from the field while Tennessee Tech went 23-of-54 for 42.6 percent.
- TTU had the upper hand in nearly every statistical category, most notably in rebounds (36-27), points in the paint (38-24) and points off turnovers (23-12).
- The Norse recorded 11 steals, matching a season high. The last time the Norse recorded 11 steals was against Indiana University East.
