TROY, Ala.- The Northern Kentucky University baseball team wrapped up its opening weekend four-game series with Troy on Sunday falling 4-2 to the Trojans.

Northern Kentucky (0-4) took the lead early in the top of the second. With an 0-1 count to lead-off the inning,
Mike Moffatt belted a solo shot down the left field line to give the Norse a 1-0 advantage.

Troy (4-0) responded in the bottom of the fourth, with Joey Dennison on third and one out Chase Smartt lined out to left center but it was just enough for Dennison to tag from third and tie the game at one apiece.

In the top of the sixth, the Norse took the lead for a second time on a RBI single by Moffatt.
Anthony Vagnier walked to get on base for the go ahead run, Vagnier then stole second to get in scoring position. After Will Hauter struck out,
Trey Ganns drew a walk to put runners on first and second for the Norse. Moffatt then singled to left scoring Vagnier from second giving the Norse a 2-1 lead.
Logan Spurlin followed Moffatt's single with a ground out to end the Northern Kentucky threat.

The Trojan answered again in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double by Matt Sanders to knot the game at 2-2. A batter later, Trevor Davis hit a sac-fly to left scoring Steven Whittaker for what proved to be the final score of 4-2.

Trey Johns (1-0) got the win got win for Troy, while Corey Childress (1) picked up the save. Johns put in 1.1 innings of work coming on in relief allowing no runs on five batters faced.
Aric Harris (0-1) took the loss for Northern Kentucky allowing one hit, one runs and collecting one strke out in one inning of work.

The Norse complied five hits on the day with no errors and five runners left on base. The Trojans tallied six hits, no errors and left six stranded in the game.
