HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Senior Jody Maginley and junior Nick Lang earned a No. 1 doubles victory on Sunday afternoon to clinch both a 4-3 victory over Detroit and a spot in the Horizon League Tournament April 29-May 1 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Due to impending rain, the teams agreed to play singles matches first, resulting in a 3-3 tie heading to doubles play.

Mate Virag, Lukas Clemens and Adrian Isache each collected singles victories in straight sets.

Virag defeated Patryk Koscielski, 6-4, 6-3 at the top flight while Clemens extended his win streak to five matches with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Ismail Kadyrov at the No. 3 flight.

Isache picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win over Detroit at the No. 5 flight.

With the match knotted at 3-3, Virag and partner Court Clark gave NKU the early doubles point advantage with a 6-2 win at the No. 2 flight before Maginley and Lang clinched the match with a No. 1-flight victory.

The Norse (8-5, 3-2 Horizon League) have just two matches left to play this season. They host non-conference foe Morehead State on Tuesday at 1 p.m. before closing out the season against defending League champion Green Bay on Sunday, April 24.
