HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University's Christine Roush was honored this week as a part of the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Asscoiation (DI-AAA ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team for women's basketball, the organization announced on Monday.

Roush, a senior guard from Louisville, Kentucky, boasts a 3.78 GPA as a Biological Sciences major, and is on track for graduation in May. On the court, Roush averaged 15.8 points per game to lead the Norse offensively and rank fourth in the Horizon League. She was also one of the nation's top free-throw shooters, connecting at a 90.7 percent clip.

Roush was named the College Sports Madness Horizon League Player of the Week on Feb. 2 after a pair of 20-point showings at Cleveland State and Youngstown State. She finished the year as a first-team All-Horizon League selection as well.

"We are so incredibly proud of Christine for receiving this tremendous recognition!" said NKU head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. "She worked tirelessly to excel in the classroom and on the court during her collegiate career at NKU, and she did so in a very challenging academic field!  She will graduate in a few weeks and this is a great way to begin the celebration."

Roush was the only Horizon League player in the 10-member Scholar-Athlete Team, selected from players at all DI-AAA ADA member institutions. Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games listed on the nomination form.
