TOLEDO, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team cruised to its second-straight shutout on Friday night, defeating Toledo, 2-0, with first-half goals from freshman
Ally Perkins and sophomore
Samantha Duwel at Scott Field.
With the win, NKU moves to 2-3-0 while Toledo dips to 1-3-0.

Ally Perkins for scoring her first collegiate goal, which turned out to be the game-winner," said head coach
Bob Sheehan. "Over the last two games, we've gone back to the fundamentals and basics of individual and small-group defending. Our players have really embraced some of the concepts we are trying to teach and need to continue focusing and improving upon."
NKU Scoring Summary
- Perkins deposited her first collegiate goal, unassisted, in the 28th minute directly off a corner kick.
- Later in the half, senior Sami Rutowski found Duwel for the second and final goal of the match in the 42nd minute when Duwel chipped the ball over the UT goalkeeper.
Between the Posts
- Emily Lohmann saw all 90 minutes in goal for NKU, posting the second clean sheet in her collegiate career.
- The Norse defense held the Rockets to just two shots on goal, one in each half, both saved by Lohmann. The sophomore goalkeeper faced eight total shots from the Toledo offense.
- UT goalkeeper Katie Wilson came up with three saves.
First Half Summary
- The Norse dominated possession early, managing five shots and two corner kicks within the first 15 minutes of the match. Sam Davis and Payton Naylor combined for four of the first five attempts.
- Perkins took the second shot of the game just six minutes in, which was saved by UT's Wilson.

- The Northern Kentucky offense slowed down in the second half, taking just two shots off the feet of Katelyn Newton and Jessica Frey.
- Meanwhile, UT took five second-half shots, one of which came on goal for a Lohmann save.

- While Perkins' goal was the first of her collegiate career, Duwel's marker was her second, good for her fifth career point.
- Perkins now leads the squad with three points this season on one goal and one assist.
- Lohmann has seen every minute in goal for NKU so far this season, totaling 450:00 minutes. She has 26 saves five games into the season and needs 53 to break into the program's top-10.
