CHICAGO – Calvin Murphy scored an 88th-minute goal off a penalty kick on Sunday afternoon, but it would be too late as DePaul used a trio of second-half goals to defeat the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team, 4-1, at Wish Field.
With the loss, NKU dips to 0-3-1. The Blue Demons improve to 2-1-1.

- With just under three minutes to play, Murphy scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick from the top of the 18-yard box to spoil DePaul's shutout bid.

- Freshman Jared Leyland earned his first collegiate start in goal and posted two saves, both in the second half.
- DePaul goalkeeper Quentin Low made two saves. DPU's Trevor Wilson subbed in for the final 10 minutes of play and allowed one goal.
First Half Summary
- DePaul found the back of the net on the first shot attempt of the game, coming off the foot of Phillip Koenigstein on a set piece in the sixth minute.
- NKU's Nick Perez countered with a shot less than a minute later that led to a Norse corner kick. However, the Norse struggled to fire another shot until Kobie Qualah placed one on goal in the 37th minute.
- The Norse took two more corner kicks before the conclusion of the half, but failed to fire another shot as they trailed 1-0 at halftime.
Second Half Summary
- NKU doubled its shot attempts in the second half with four, but struggled to put a halt to DePaul's momentum.
- The Blue Demons managed 14 second-half shots, including a trio of goals in the 53rd, 70th and 73rd minutes. The squad's third goal of the game was scored on a penalty kick taken by Simon Megally while its fourth goal found the back of the net off the post.
Norse Notes
- All six of NKU's shots were distributed among six different players. Tucker Moneheimer, Qualah and Murphy were responsible for Northern Kentucky's three shots on goal.
- Five of NKU's 11 starters were freshmen including Joey Sabato, Anders Mathiesen, Leyland, Monheimer and Wlademir Babaew. It was the first career start and first complete game in goal for Leyland, while Sabato and Mathiesen also made their first collegiate starts.
