HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball team coasted to a 93-65 win over Wilmington on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Norse improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
STATS LEADERS
  • Drew McDonald and Jeff Garrett each recorded a double-double. McDonald had 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Garrett contributed a career-high 13 points and 15 boards. This was the first time two NKU players had a double-double in a game since Dec. 5, 2015, when Lavone Holland II and Jalen Billups achieved the feat against Eastern Illinois.
  • Lavone Holland II also scored in double figures with 10 points and added four assists and three rebounds.
  • Chris Vogt, Jordan Garnett, and Tyler Sharpe all had eight points in the game.
 
TURNING POINT
  • McDonald's layup with 5:02 left in the first half sparked a 13-3 run to help the Norse take a 51-28 lead and put the game out of reach.
 
FIRST-HALF SUMMARY
  • A 7-0 run midway through the first half helped NKU take a 27-13 lead over Wilmington. The Fightin' Quakers battled their way back, cutting the lead to eight points with just over eight minutes left in the half.
