HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky men's basketball team coasted to a 93-65 win over Wilmington on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Norse improve to 2-0 on the season.
 
STATS LEADERS

• Drew McDonald and Jeff Garrett each recorded a double-double. McDonald had 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Garrett contributed a career-high 13 points and 15 boards. This was the first time two NKU players had a double-double in a game since Dec. 5, 2015, when Lavone Holland II and Jalen Billups achieved the feat against Eastern Illinois.
• Lavone Holland II also scored in double figures with 10 points and added four assists and three rebounds.
• Chris Vogt, Jordan Garnett, and Tyler Sharpe all had eight points in the game.

 
TURNING POINT

• McDonald's layup with 5:02 left in the first half sparked a 13-3 run to help the Norse take a 51-28 lead and put the game out of reach.

 
FIRST-HALF SUMMARY

• A 7-0 run midway through the first half helped NKU take a 27-13 lead over Wilmington. The Fightin' Quakers battled their way back, cutting the lead to eight points with just over eight minutes left in the half.
• The Norse extended its advantage to as much as 23 points in the stanza, and took a 52-32 advantage into the break.
• NKU went 18-of-34 (52.9%) from the floor in the first half, which included a 6-of-15 (40.0%) performance from behind the arc.
• Wilmington was 11-of-25 (44.0%) on field goals in the period. The Fightin' Quakers made three of their first four 3-point attempts, but went just 1-for-8 from behind the arc during the rest of the half.
• NKU outrebounded Wilmington 26-10 in the half, which included 11 offensive rebounds.

 
SECOND-HALF SUMMARY

• The Norse got off to a fast start to begin the second half, outscoring Wilmington 13-2 in the opening 4:30 of the period to extend the lead to 65-34.
• McDonald scored 15 points in the first 5:03 of the half.
• NKU went ahead by as much as 34 points in the period and won the game by a final score of 93-65.
• The Norse went 15-of-32 (46.9%) on field goals during the half.
• NKU held Wilmington to just 2-of-13 (15.4%) shooting behind the arc in the half.
