MILWAUKEE – IUPUI scored a goal in the 89^th minute to stun the Northern Kentucky women's soccer team, 3-2, in the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament. The Jaguars will now advance to the championship match of the Horizon League Tournament.
 
"Congratulations to our four seniors Jess, Liz, Macy, and Kayte, who have all been outstanding contributors to the program over the last four years," said NKU head coach Bob Sheehan. "We were relentless in our attack and played exceptionally well in stretches tonight.  I am very proud of our team." 
 
NKU SCORING SUMMARY

• Jessica Frey gave NKU a 1-0 lead in the 17^th minute. Emily Soltes played a through ball up to Frey, and she put her shot off the left post and into the back of the net. Macy Hamblin also earned an assist on the play.
• In the 79^th minute, Samantha Duwel scored to give the Norse a 2-1 lead. Erin Sutton played a hard cross into the box, and Duwel was able to put the ball to the right of the IUPUI goalkeeper.

• Emily Lohmann made two saves in the contest. Her record in 2017 is 9-5-2. 

 
FIRST HALF SUMMARY

• Jessica Frey and Rachel Conaway each had a shot in the first three minutes of the match, but both attempts were blocked by the IUPUI defense.
• Kayte Osterfeld put her free kick on frame in the 14^th minute, but IUPUI's Sophia Lipka was able to make the save.
• Frey put the Norse ahead 1-0 in the 17^th minute.
• Lohmann made her first save of the match in the 23^rd minute. IUPUI's Beth Parks looked like she was going to play a cross into the box, but the ball went close to the goal, forcing Lohmann to made the stop.
• Samantha Duwel had a nice volley attempt in the 26^th minute, but her shot was high of the crossbar.
• The Norse earned a corner kick in the 29^th minute. Duwel played the ball into the box, and Emily Soltes headed the ball near goal. IUPUI's Lipka made a fine save on the attempt and punched the ball over the net.
• In the 39^th minute, Frey nearly scored again. Erin Sutton dribbled the ball up on the right side of the field and passed the ball to Macy Hamblin. Hamblin played the ball over to Frey on the left side, and her shot went just to the left of the goal.
• At the end of the first half, NKU had an 18-2 advantage in shots.

 
SECOND HALF SUMMARY

• Valentine Pursey evened the score at 1-1 in the 49^th minute. IUPUI played a corner kick into the box, the  ball went to Pursey, and she fired a shot into the right side of the net.
• IUPUI's Jessica Flores had an open look at goal in the 61^st minute, but Lohmann was able to make a save to prevent her from scoring.
• Hamblin nearly scored a spectacular goal for NKU in the 67^th minute, but Lipka made a save for IUPUI. Hamblin secured the ball, flicked the ball over a defender and fired a shot, but Lipka was able to make the stop.
• In the 73^rd minute, Frey got behind the IUPUI defense and blasted a shot on frame. Lipka got a piece of the ball for IUPUI, and the ball bounced off the crossbar and away from the net.
• Duwel gave NKU a 2-1 lead in the 79^th minute.
• In the 84^th minute, NKU was called for a handball in the box. Pursey stepped up to take the kick for IUPUI and put the ball into the left side of the net to tie the match at 2-2.
• Pursey scored her third goal of the match in the 89^th minute to give IUPUI a 3-2 lead.
• Hamblin nearly tied it with 10 seconds left in the match, but her shot bounced off the post.

 
MATCH NOTES

• NKU had a 26-7 shot advantage in the match. The 26 shots were a season-high.
• IUPUI scored two goals in the final seven minutes of the match.
• Frey's goal was her 11^th of the season, while Duwel scored her third.
