CONWAY, S.C. – Northern Kentucky softball fell to UConn and Coastal Carolina to close out the Coastal Carolina Invitational, with an 11-0 five-inning loss to the Huskies before a 5-2 setback to the Chanticleers. With the results, NKU drops to 1-9 on the season.

  • The Norse registered nine hits while allowing 14 by UConn, but were unable to score throughout the five innings played.
  • Senior catcher Dani Devlin made a strong effort at the dish, with three hits on as many at-bats to pace the Norse.
  • Senior utility Paige McQueen and freshman infielder Toree Stalter also recorded multi-hit games, with McQueen going 2-for-3 while Stalter was 2-for-2.

  • Coastal Carolina equalized the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the second, and had a two-run home run in both the fourth and fifth frames.
  • The Norse made a valiant effort in the seventh inning, loading the bases before McQueen was hit by pitch to score Ferrante. With no outs and three on base, NKU was unable to send any more runners home as the next three in the lineup went down in order.
