CHICAGO – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell at UIC, 4-0, on Friday in game two of a three-game series at Curtis Granderson Stadium after the Flames scored all of the game's runs in a single inning.

The Norse dip to 12-21 overall and 6-5 in the Horizon League. UIC improves to 23-8 overall and 12-2 in League play.

On the Mound
  • Norse starter Jean-Francois Dionne allowed just four base runners in his first 4.0 innings of work before the Flames broke through the right-hander in the fifth inning. Dionne threw 5.1 innings with nine hits and four runs.
  • Jordan Menfee contributed 1.2 scoreless innings with one hit, two strikeouts and no walks.
  • Charlie Jerger appeared in his second-straight game and threw the final inning and faced the minimum.
  • UIC's Reid Birlingmair threw 8.0 scoreless innings with two hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
Key Moments
  • Jake Richmond singled to lead off the game and advanced on a wild pitch, but was one of three Norse to be left stranded on base on Friday as NKU struggled to reach against UIC pitchers.
  • Dionne retired each of the first seven batters he faced and allowed one base runner through the first three innings.
  • UIC scored its four runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth, which included an RBI single from Thomas Norton and a three-run homer from Cody Bohanek.
Norse Notes
  • TJ Alas extended his reached base streak to 24 games.
  • Menfee owns a 1.40 ERA in relief appearances this year. He has totaled 17.1 innings with nine hits, five earned runs and 13 strikeouts as opponents are averaging .145 against the sophomore in his appearances out of the bullpen. He has not allowed an earned run in his last 6.2 innings, in which he has allowed two hits.
  • Norse relievers have not allowed a run this weekend. Jerger, Menfee and Travis Rowland have totaled 7.1 innings of work with four hits, four strikeouts and one walk.
