@NKUNorseBSB closes out UIC series with 7-2 setback

CHICAGO – Northern Kentucky baseball fell in the series finale on the road at UIC, 7-2. With the loss, NKU dips to 12-22 overall and 6-6 in Horizon League play while UIC moves to 24-8 (13-2 Horizon).

At the Plate
On the Mound
  • Norse starter Pat Kelley threw 3.0 innings and gave up five hits and four runs, only two of which were earned.
  • Reliever Cameron Ross took over in the fourth inning and allowed one base runner, who reached on a walk, in his first 2.0 innings. His outing ended with two runs on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
  • Seth Rosenberg threw the final inning, allowing one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts and no walks.
Key Moments
  • Cody Bohanek parked a solo home run over the leftfield wall for a 1-0 UIC lead in the first inning.
  • The Flames scored three runs on a sacrifice fly and two-base error to lead 4-0 through three full innings.
  • Ross took over on the mound in the fourth and retired five of the first six batters he faced, with one reaching on an error.
  • The Flames extended their lead to 5-0 on a ground-rule double against Ross in the sixth inning.
  • Trey Ganns walked, Haueter singled and Colletta reached on a throwing error to load the bases in the seventh. Chad Roberts drew a bases-loaded walk and Brad Bohlen scored Haueter on a ground out for a pair of runs.
  • UIC countered with an RBI double in its half of the frame for a 6-2  lead, which was later extended to 7-2 on a solo homer in the eighth.

  • TJ Alas has reached base in 25-straight games.
  • Ross has thrown 18.0 innings in Horizon League play and owns a 1.50 ERA with 13 strikeouts in his seven HL appearances.
  • NKU pitchers only walked three batters this weekend.
