HOUSTON –Northern Kentucky volleyball was set to open up the 2017 campaign at the Barcelona HBU Classic in Houston, but the tournament has been cancelled due to the approaching Hurricane Harvey. The storm reached Category 2 this morning, and is on pace to become a Category 3 hurricane by the time it hits the southern Texas coastline late Friday or early Saturday, according to national weather reports.
The team will now kick off the season next weekend when it travels to Pittsburgh for the Duquesne Invitational. NKU will take on Robert Morris and Duquesne on Friday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET. The Norse close out the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 2, against Canisius at 4 p.m.
