@NKUNorseMBB earns 77-65 road win over Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Lavone Holland II took over during a stretch of the second half and led the Northern Kentucky men's basketball team to a 77-65 win over the Green Bay Phoenix on Saturday afternoon. The Norse move to 14-6 overall and 7-1 in the Horizon League. Green Bay falls to 8-15 and 3-7 in League play.
 
STATS LEADERS
  • Holland had 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. He also added two blocks and a steal.
  • Drew McDonald added 15 points, five rebounds and three assists.
  • Carson Williams finished the game with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists.
  • Jordan Garnett contributed 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. He shot 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the game.
 
TURNING POINT
  • The Norse opened up the second half on a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 19 points. Despite coming within five points in the half, Green Bay was unable to overcome the deficit. When the Phoenix made their run to get within five with 6:11 remaining, Holland scored the next two baskets to push the margin back to nine.
 
FIRST-HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU jumped out to a 10-1 lead early in the half, forcing Green Bay to call a timeout.
  • Williams had eight points in the first 4:39 of the half, which included a highlight-reel dunk. A Green Bay player fouled Williams on the dunk, and he knocked down his free throw to convert the three-point play.
