HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team defeated Oakland on Wednesday evening by a final score of 2-1.
Kailey Ivins scored in the 87
th minute to help the Norse get the victory. NKU improves to 9-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in Horizon League play. Oakland falls to 1-11-3 and 1-3-3 in the league.

Shawna Zaken did very well to find
Kailey Ivins in the box late in the game. Kailey stayed with the play and scored a terrific goal for the game-winner. Our back line was very good again tonight. We are pleased to earn the three points."
NKU SCORING SUMMARY
- Duwel gave the Norse a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute. Emily Soltes played a ball outside to Perkins, and she immediately crossed it in the box. Duwel was in the box and headed the ball past the Oakland goalkeeper to put NKU ahead.
- After Oakland tied the match in the 83rd minute, Ivins responded with a goal in the 87th minute to give the Norse a 2-1 lead. Zaken played a cross from the left side to Ivins, and she put her shot to the right of the Oakland goalkeeper to seal the win for NKU.

- Oakland tied the match at 1-1 in the 83rd minute. Emma Voelker hit a shot from outside the box on the left side, and it ended up in the lower right corner of the net.
- Ivins' goal in the 87th minute sealed the 2-1 win for the Norse.

- Duwel's goal was her fifth of the season. She now has 15 points this year, which is tied for the team lead with Zaken.
- NKU had an 11-5 shot advantage in the match.
