@NKUNorseBSB tops Miami-Hamilton, 9-3

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team defeated Miami-Hamilton on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 9-3. The Norse move to 10-24 on the season, while the Harriers drop to 25-12.
 
 
AT THE PLATE  
 ON THE MOUND
  • Jordan Menfee got the start and earned the win on the mound. He went five innings, allowing just two runs on four hits.
  • Travis Rowland pitched three innings, and Cal McAninch didn't allow a runner to reach base in the ninth.
 
 KEY MOMENTS
  • Doersching hit a double in the first that allowed two runs to score to give NKU a 2-0 lead.
  • NKU added three more runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead. Hohman reached on an error, which allowed Shane Paradis to score. Jake Richmond had a sacrifice fly in the inning, and Will Haueter hit an RBI single.
  • Miami-Hamilton crossed the plate twice in the top of the fifth to make the score 5-2.
  • The Harriers got another run in the top of the sixth to get within two runs at 5-3.
  • NKU responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 9-3 lead. Heavilin hit a double, and he scored on Hohman's double to put the Norse ahead 6-3. With the bases loaded, Chad Roberts walked to make the score 7-3. Doersching closed out the scoring in the frame with a two-run single.
NORSE NOTES
  • NKU had nine hits in the contest, and Miami-Hamilton had seven.
  • The Norse didn't commit an error, and the Harriers had one.
  • NKU left eight runners on base, and Miami-Hamilton stranded seven.
