UIC takes series finale against @NKUNorseBSB

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to UIC on Sunday in the series finale by a score of 11-2. UIC moves to 20-13 on the year and 8-7 in the Horizon League. NKU is 10-27 overall and 5-13 in league play.

ON THE MOUND
  • Brody Basilone got the start and took the loss on the mound. He allowed five runs in five innings.
  • Jordan Menfee pitched 0.2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing five runs.
  • Nick Beard threw 1.1 scoreless innings.
  • Cal McAninch closed out the game. He allowed just one run on four hits in two innings of work.
 
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • UIC took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Alex Dee hit a two-run single for the Flames in the inning.
  • The Flames added three runs in the fifth inning. Scott Ota hit a two-run triple, and he scored on an RBI single by Bowen Ogata to make the score 5-0.
  • The Norse loaded the bases in the bottom half of the fifth, but UIC was able to escape the jam.
  • UIC crossed the plate five times in the sixth inning to go ahead 10-0. Derrick Patrick hit a two-run triple in the frame, and Ota added a two-run homer.
  • The Flames added their final run in the ninth inning. With the bases loaded, Dylan Gilbert was hit by a pitch to allow a run to score.
  • Roberts hit a two-run homer for NKU in the bottom of the ninth, but UIC went on to win 11-2.  
 
 
NORSE NOTES
  • UIC had 19 hits in the contest, and NKU had nine.
  • Each team left 13 runners on base.
  • Neither team committed an error.
