Youngstown State defeats @NKUNorseBSB on Sunday afternoon

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 10-3. YSU moves to 17-32 on the year and 10-16 in the Horizon League. NKU is 14-34 overall and 9-18 in league play.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Brody Basilone got the start and took the loss, despite a solid performance on the mound. He allowed just two runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work.
  • Travis Rowland allowed three runs (none earned) in 0.1 innings.
  • Joe Martin gave up four runs on four hits in three innings.
  • Kyle Service came in to face two batters and recorded an out.
  • Andrew Sabrosky faced three hitters and got two outs.
  • Nick Beard had three strikeouts and allowed one run in the ninth inning.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • The Norse took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Haueter hit a double, moved to first on a single by Doersching, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Roberts.
  • YSU scored six times in the top of the sixth to take a 6-1 lead. Blaze Glenn hit a solo home run, Anthony Santoro added a two-run double, and Lucas Nasonti hit a three-run homer.
  • NKU responded by scoring two runs in the bottom half of the sixth to make the score 6-3. Doersching scored on a sacrifice fly by Cole Heavilin, and Roberts crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
  • The Penguins added three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-3 lead. Nick LaBrasca had an RBI single in the frame, and Santoro hit a two-run homer.
  • YSU added a run in the ninth inning. Santoro scored on a wild pitch to make the score 10-3.
