@NKUNorseBSB falls to Wright State on Thursday evening

DAYTON, Ohio - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Wright State on Thursday evening by a final score of 12-0. The game was played at Fifth Third Field, the home of the Dayton Dragons, in front of a crowd of 1,837. Wright State moves to 34-15 overall and 20-6 in the Horizon League. NKU is 14-36 and 9-19 in league play.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Sam Williams got the start and took the loss on the mound. He allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits.
  • Cameron Ross came out of the bullpen. He pitched three innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on two hits.
  • Kyle Service threw 1.2 innings and allowed five runs on five hits.  
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Wright State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Zach Weatherford hit a triple down the left field line, which gave Alex Alders the opportunity to score.  
  • The Raiders added four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 5-0. Alders crossed the plate on a single by Seth Gray in the frame. The Raiders also took advantage of two errors in the inning. A fielding error allowed one run to score, and a throwing error allowed two runs to score.
  • Wright State scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7-0 lead. Gabe Snyder hit an RBI single to score JD Orr, and Snyder scored in the frame on an RBI groundout by Chase Slone.
  • The Raiders crossed the plate five times in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend their lead to 12-0.

  • Haueter now has 19 multi-hit games, and he has reached base in 29-straight contests.
  • Mercurio is on a 10-game hitting streak.
  • The Norse committed three errors, and Wright State had none.
  • The Raiders recorded 10 hits in the contest, and NKU had four.
