Wright State gets past @NKUNorseBSB on Friday

DAYTON, Ohio - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Wright State on Friday by a final score of 13-6. The Raiders move to 35-15 overall and 21-6 in the Horizon League. NKU drops to 14-37 and 9-20 in league play.
 
AT THE PLATE  
 
ON THE MOUND
  • Brody Basilone got the start on the mound and took the loss. He went 4.2 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits.
  • Joe Martin pitched two innings. He gave up eight runs, but only two were earned.
  • Travis Rowland threw 1.1 innings without allowing a hit, and he also struck out two batters.
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • The Norse took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Moffatt doubled to start the game, and he moved to third on a single by Haueter. In the next at-bat, Roberts delivered a double to center field, which allowed Moffatt to score. Haueter also crossed the plate in the inning on an RBI groundout by Doersching.
  • Wright State got a run back in the bottom half of the first. JD Orr scored on an RBI groundout by Peyton Burdick.  
  • The Raiders tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third. Burdick's RBI double in the frame allowed Orr to score.
  • NKU went ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning. Doersching singled in the frame, and he moved to second when Shane Paradis walked. Doersching took third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch to give the Norse the lead.
  • The Raiders scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 5-3. Gabe Snyder hit an RBI single in the frame to score Bentley Jones, Burdick crossed the plate on a wild pitch, and Snyder scored when Seth Gray reached on an error.
  • Wright State added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-3 lead. Matt Morrow hit an RBI single to score Zach Weatherford, and Jones also crossed the plate on the play due to a fielding error.
  • The Raiders scored six times in the bottom of the seventh to go ahead 13-3. Weatherford hit an RBI single in the frame, two runs scored on an error, and Burdick hit a three-run homer.
  • The Norse scored three runs in the top of the eighth to make the score 13-6. Haueter started the inning with a single, moved to third on a double by Roberts, and they both scored on Doersching's double. Later in the frame, Doersching moved to third on a passed ball and scored on another passed ball.  
 
NORSE NOTES
  • With his two hits in the game, Haueter has now reached base in 30-straight contests. He also has 20 multi-hit games.
  • Roberts has 15 multi-hit games this year.   
  • Moffatt has recorded 13 multi-hit games this season. With his two doubles in the game, he now has 11 on the year, which ranks second on the team.
  • Wright State had 10 hits in the contest, and NKU had nine.
  • The Norse committed four errors, and the Raiders had none.

  • NKU closes out the series against Wright State on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Nischwitz Stadium.
