HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team fell to Wright State in double overtime on Saturday evening by a final score of 2-1. It was the first loss of the season for NKU. Wright State moves to 4-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the Horizon League, and NKU is now 4-1 and 0-1 in league play.
"We cost ourselves the result tonight and can blame no one but ourselves for not winning the match," said NKU head coach
Stu Riddle. "Credit to Wright State for taking advantage of our lack of interest and lack of quality and deservedly getting the three points. I expect a big reaction from the players in our next match on Tuesday."
NKU SCORING SUMMARY
- Connor Probert gave NKU a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. He played a corner kick into the box to Alex Greive. Greive passed the ball back to Probert, and he fired a shot from inside the box into the lower right corner of the net to put the Norse ahead.

FIRST HALF SUMMARY
- The Norse dominated possession for most of the first half.
- In the third minute, Will Hunt played a nice cross in the box, but Alex Willis' header was just high of the mark.

- Wright State's Stefan Rokvic took advantage of his penalty kick by scoring in the 87th minute to tie the match at 1-1.
- Barkei stopped a shot in the 87th minute prevented Wright State from taking the lead.
OVERTIME SUMMARY
- NKU and Wright State couldn't be separated in the first overtime period. The Raiders had just one shot, but that attempt was blocked by the Norse defense.
- Barkei made two saves in the second overtime to keep the score even, but Wright State prevailed with a goal by Deri Corfe in the 106th minute.
