@NKUNorseMSOC routs Berea, 11-0

Highland Heights, Ky – The Northern Kentucky men's soccer team picked up their third-straight win with an 11-0 rout over Berea on Wednesday night at NKU Soccer Stadium. Alex Greive and Sam Mason had a haul and a hat trick, respectively.

"Full credit to the players tonight," said head coach Stu Riddle. "We saw a professional approach to the match had some top individual performances. We're in a good run of form here right now and look forward to getting back into Horizon League play this Saturday"

  • Baj Maan played all 90 minutes at goal for the Norse and faced three-total shots, all of which were off target.

MATCH SUMMARY

  • Berea found two shot opportunities in the opening six minutes with one getting blocked and the other missing wide.
  • Ryan Godding kicked off the NKU scoring party with a goal in the 9th minute off a pass from Will Hunt. The goal was Godding's second of the year.
  • Berea's Joshua Szidik was given a yellow card in the 20th minute.
  • Within the span of three minutes, NKU logged a trio of goals to move to a 4-0 advantage: Mason scored a goal in the 24th and 25th minutes, while Brodie Sallows capped off the chaos in the 26th minute with a score.
  • Mason pulled off the first hat trick of his career with a goal in the 32nd minute thanks to a feed from Gianni Bouzoukis.
  • With a 5-0 lead to start the half, Sallows kept the scoring train rolling with an unassisted goal in the 60th minute.
  • Most of NKU's usual starting lineup made its way into the game in the 62nd minute. Connor Probert, Alex Greive, Rikard Lindqvist, Harvey Moyes, Stian Jørgensen and Sam Nwosu replaced TJ Harris, Hunt, Godding, Wes Collins, Brendan Auguste and Mahumud Osman respectively.
  • Following his stellar, hat-trick performance against UIC, Greive netted a haul with four-consecutive goals in the 68th, 70th, 86th and 89th minutes.
NORSE NOTES
  • The 11 NKU goals is the most in a single game by any team in Division I and Division II this season. NCAA Division III has six teams that scored 12 or more goals in a game.
  • In three games, Greive has scored eight goals, the only haul of the Division I era for NKU, as well as one of two hat tricks.
  • Mason's hat trick is the second of NKU's Divison I era.
