@NKUNorseWBB falls to Bisons in final seconds

NASHVILLE – Northern Kentucky women's basketball dropped a heartbreaking 71-69 decision on the road at Lipscomb, falling to 0-3 on the season while the Bisons improved to 1-2. 
 
STAT LEADERS
  • Molly Glick had a career night scoring with 22 points. She shot 50 percent from the field and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Glick also added six rebounds and a pair of assists.
  • Carissa Garcia and Emmy Souder also hit double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
  • Ivy Turner added nine points and Taylor Clos had eight, going 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
 
TURNING POINT
  • Tied 53-53 at the end of the third quarter, the final stanza went back-and-forth until the final seconds. NKU held its final lead of the game at the 69-66 mark, and Lipscomb tied it up at 69-69 with 21 seconds remaining. Following a foul with 1.5 seconds left, Lipscomb hit its two free throws to win the contest.
 
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • Lipscomb started the contest out on a 6-0 run, but the Norse had the upper hand in the close of the first quarter with a 9-2 run to hold a 19-13 lead.
  • The Bisons shot 58.3 percent from the field and went 4-for-7 from long range in the second quarter, outscoring the Norse 24-16 to take a 37-35 lead going into the half.
  • Glick led the Norse with nine points in the opening half and the Norse shot well at 41.4 percent. However, the Bisons had the slight edge and shot 50.0 percent from the floor.
 
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU began the second half with a 7-0 run, but Lipscomb slowly chipped away at NKU's lead and tied the contest at 51-51 with a minute to play in the third.
  • The Norse scored the first four points of the final quarter and held the lead until the 3:56 mark when the Bisons managed to knot the contest up at 62-62. Lipscomb went ahead by a pair, 66-64, but NKU used two free throws from Turner and a steal from Tayah Irvin that turned into a jumper from Glick for a 69-66 advantage.
  • Lipscomb tied the game up once again at 69-69 after an offensive rebound set up the tying 3-pointer. An NKU foul with 1.5 seconds on the clock sent Lipscomb to the free-throw line, where the game was sealed with a pair of makes.


  GAME NOTES
  • NKU shot 43.1 percent from the field, going 25-for-58, but Lipscomb was slightly higher at 23-for-52 for 44.2 percent.
  • The Norse had the advantage on the boards, 34-27, and held Lipscomb to seven offensive rebounds.
  • NKU also outscored the Bisons 30-24 in the paint and had 22 points off Lipscomb's 17 turnovers.
