Strong second half lifts @NKUNorseMBB past Milwaukee, 65-55

MILWAUKEE – The Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team defeated Milwaukee on Thursday evening by a final score of 65-55. The Norse improve to 22-8 overall and 12-5 in the Horizon League. Milwaukee drops to 9-21 on the season and 4-10 in league play. With Wright State's loss this evening, the Norse move into a tie for first place in the Horizon League.
 
STATS LEADERS
  • Jalen Tate led all scorers with 18 points behind 8-of-12 shooting. He also added seven rebounds and three assists.
  • Chris Vogt also converted 8-of-12 attempts from the floor for 16 points, while also adding four rebounds and an assist.
  • Dantez Walton finished with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.
  • Tyler Sharpe contributed 10 points, five rebounds, four steals and an assist.
 
TURNING POINT
  • Northern Kentucky used a 12-0 run to gain a five-point advantage, 46-41, but it was 9-0 run late in the second half that provided the Norse a 63-50 lead with 3:14 to play, putting the game out of reach. 
 
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • Leading 15-12, NKU surrendered an 11-0 run. But, the Norse outscored the Panthers 10-4 over the final 4:50 of the half.
  • The Panthers took a 34-26 lead into halftime.
