ATHENS, Ohio – Northern Kentucky softball led reigning Mid-American Conference champion Ohio for the majority of six innings, but the Bobcats overcame the deficit to defeat the Norse, 3-1. NKU falls to 7-19 on the season while Ohio advances to 22-10.

At the Plate

In the Circle
  • Taylor Ginther pitched the complete game, striking out four batters and walking one. She did not allow a runner to reach base until the fifth inning and kept the Bobcats hitless until the sixth frame. She falls to 5-10 with the loss.

Scoring Summary
  • Frazier was walked in the first at-bat of the contest and was advanced to second thanks to a sac bunt by Stalter. A passed ball allowed Frazier to reach third base, and she scored on an error by the Ohio catcher.
  • The Norse kept Ohio's explosive offense at bay for the majority of the game, but the Bobcats used three hits to plate three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. An RBI single tied the contest at 1-1 before a two-run homer proved to be the game winner for Ohio.

Up Next
  • The Norse return home this weekend, as their previously scheduled Horizon League series with Oakland will be held in Highland Heights due to anticipated inclement weather in Michigan.  Oakland will still remain the designated home team. The series kicks off on Friday, March 29, with a noon doubleheader before concluding on Saturday, March 30 with a single game at noon.
