Alabama gets past @NKUNorseBSB on Saturday, 9-4

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team dropped a Saturday afternoon contest to Alabama by a final score of 9-4. NKU falls to 1-10 on the year, while Alabama moves to 14-2.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND
  • Kyle Service (L, 0-2) got the start on the mound. He allowed three runs on four hits in four innings pitched. Service also struck out three hitters.
  • Cameron Ross came out of the bullpen in the fifth inning and gave up two runs.
  • Kaleb Meeks went on the mound in the sixth inning, giving up two runs.
  • Joe Martin relieved Meeks, and he pitched 2.1 innings. He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out two batters.  
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Fisher gave the Norse a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with a solo home run down the left field line.
  • Alabama tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. With the bases loaded, Tyler Gentry hit an infield single to score Brett Auerbach.
  • The Crimson Tide went ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Joe Breaux hit a double that scored two runs in the frame.
  • NKU loaded the bases in the top of the fifth, but Alabama escaped without allowing a run.
  • Alabama added two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. John Trousdale hit an RBI triple to right field, and he came home on a sacrifice fly by Drew Williamson.
  • The Norse loaded the bases again in the sixth, but Alabama kept the Norse scoreless in the inning.
  • The Crimson Tide scored two runs in the sixth to go ahead 7-1. With the bases loaded, Keith Holcombe walked to bring home Auerbach. Later in the inning, Kolby Robinson was credited with an RBI single.
  • NKU crossed the plate three times in the seventh inning to make the score 7-4. Fisher reached on an error by the Alabama shortstop, and Haueter scored on the play. Moments later, Marion hit an RBI single down the right field line to score Trey Bowden. Fisher touched home plate for the third run in the inning after a wild pitch by the Alabama pitcher.
  • The Crimson Tide scored twice in the seventh inning to go ahead 9-4. Auerbach hit an RBI single to score Kobe Morris, and he scored on a double by Morgan McCullough.
 
 
GAME NOTES
  • Each team had nine hits in the game.
  • Alabama committed one error, while NKU had none.
  • Marion had his second multi-hit game of the season.
